post inauguration
Mood:  happy

Hi everyone,

It is now 10:30 at night on Wednesday and I just got back to the hotel.  We went around the city today which looked empty compared to yesterday!  Went to Ford's Theater but it is still closed for renovations so we went to the Peterson house where Lincoln died.  We then walked to the White House and saw the viewing stand President Obama was in to watch the parade.  We then went to the memorials, Lincoln, Korean, WWII, and Vietnam.  As usual the Vietnam Wall was the most emotional with notes placed at the wall.  I have walked miles and the 8th grade is going to have a tough time keeping up with me in D.C.

I was explaining to my nephew about the view from the White House to the Jefferson Memorial and how trees were cut down for a clear view to Jefferson.  Two women overheard me and asked for it explained.  They then invited me to lunch for a lesson!!  I didn't go but I was thrilled someone wanted a history lesson!

Overall, the experience has been overwhelming and again today, people were happy, polite, and wonderful.  I will hate to leave but I guess I must get back.  See you all soon.

Love, Mrs. Weber
